FBLA NEWS

The De Queen Senior High FBLA chapter recently participated in the DHS Homecoming Parade.  Members who rode on the FBLA float were:  Karla Angeles, Joey San Juan, Cody Lites, Alec Lowrey, Misty Goings, Josie Vaught, and Molly Buss.

 

The De Queen Senior High FBLA attended the FBLA District IV Fall Conference on October 7 at the UA-Hope campus in Hope, AR.  All 20 members attended the conference.

 

The De Queen Senior High FBLA sponsored two angels in the annual Christmas Angel Tree.  Both angels were given new bicycles and clothing for Christmas.

 

The De Queen High School FBLA traveled to the UA-Hope campus Wednesday, February 3, to compete in the FBLA District IV Spring Conference.  Nineteen members competed in many business related events.  Fifteen members qualified to compete at the FBLA State Conference, which will be April 4-5 in Little Rock.  There were over 40 High Schools that participated in the District IV Spring Conference.  De Queen High School Junior Cody Lites was elected at the Conference as the FBLA District IV President and State Vice President for the upcoming school year.  The following members qualified for the State Conference:

1st Place    Cody Lites – Public Speaking II
1st Place    Jeffrey Davis, Krishna Patel, and Prince Beasley – Digital Video Production

2nd Place    Edgar Espinoza and Noah Sherry – Intro to Business Presentation
3rd Place    Tara Montgomery and Alec Lowrey – Marketing

The De Queen High School FBLA attended the Arkansas State FBLA Conference on April 4 and 5 in Little Rock. Fourteen members attended and competed at the Conference.  Six members qualified for the National FBLA Competition in Atlanta, GA on June 29 – July 3, 2016.  They are as follows:  Haylee Rich – 2nd place in Agribusiness, Jeffery Davis, Krishna Patel, Prince Beasley – 2nd place in Digital Video Production, Cody Lites – 3rd place in Public Speaking II, and Danielle Duggan – 4th place in Electronic Career Portfolio.

 

District IV FBLA recently raised over $5000, through increased registration fees and bucket collections, to grant a wish to a cancer patient for the Make A Wish Foundation.  Three year old Kaylynn Sands, who is battling cancer, was granted a wish for her and her family to attend Disney World in Orlando, FL. The Wish Reveal occurred April 18 on the campus of Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia.  Sands is from Magnolia, AR.  Cody Lites, the De Queen FBLA President, is the District IV FBLA President for the 2016-2017 school year.
